Our Mornings

Our day always start with a cup of espresso each to boost and wake ourselves up. Not that we have a problem in getting up really because we have an 'alarm' clock ready and free of charge outside our bedroom patio, by the next building. With the clammering and hammering away at 6am, the workers really can't be bothered who they wake up!

So Chris and I would go for our usuals at a corner coffee stall by Soi 12 and we would sit and relax sometimes for a good 30 minutes, otherwise we are up and about in 10 minutes. Usually we'd sit and puff away and just
watch the crazy traffic on Sukhumvit, but since we quit smoking, we just sip and chatter away criticizing at the way the cab drivers here drive and how hellish it is! The way they hog the roads is just incredibly annoying, especially when they see pedestrians by the boardwalk and they would honk their horns to see if they could catch the customer. What becomes irritable is the fact that the cab drivers would just stop as to when and where it pleases them. They just cannot be bothered if there are other vehicles behind them and if they are causing a road block!

Anyway, the bridge in the picture is actually where a cop usually stands and wait for their next prey! You see, if you smoke and you discard the cigarette butt onto the pavement, you can be fined. And believe me the penalty is pretty steep....2,000THB and that is a lot!! They would look out for unsuspecting tourist who have no idea about this law and these cops normally work in pairs, as one would stand on the boardwalk and the other up on the bridge and they would communicate through a walkie- talkie. So a little co-operation this way, they usually apprehend the unsuspecting culprit catching them completely off guard. Unfortunately for those caught, they would have to 'cough up' some dough! So, if you ever walk anywhere on the boulavard and if you smoke, please keep the cigarette butt till you see a garbage can and then you dispose it,...play it safe people!

So this is just one of the many things that Chris and I do during our morning coffee...watch the madness of the traffic and the people walking by!
