An F for Library

Ok, here is one story that will blow your mind once you have finished reading this thread and I can assure you that once you are done you will no doubt conclude that this story is so unbelievably ridiculous. This is of course my opinion nonetheless.

How in the world can a kid, 7 years of age possibly get an 'F' for Library? Tell me or is there a sound explanation as to how a 7 year old can possibly fail of all things,...library? For as long as I have lived, I have never ever heard or come across anyone failing of all things....library! Seriously coming from a child, this is so incredibly and outrageously insane as it can be.

So the reason as far as I know is because the child 'lost' her library book and so it was a way to teach her a lesson of being responsible. She was nevertheless asked to repay for the book at US13.00 for a used book but her father refused to do so. However, a couple of days later, the book was discovered to be at another students desk and was later known that the book was actually taken without the knowledge of the child.

But whatever it is, I cannot fathom the failing grade for library on a 1st graders progress report. If this is to say a way to teach the child to be responsible, I strongly disagree the approach. If an 'F' was given to a seventh or eighth grader it is much more understandable as they would be much older and mature to understand, but to a 1st grader.....NO, it is bloody ridiculous, beyond comprehension!! Perhaps the principal of the school needs to take a good look at the grading system because it surely is flawed!

So there, correct me if I am wrong at what I have said and tell me that I am overreacting...for this by far is the greatest joke ever!

I suppose it is Chicago Public School!!!
As a former teacher of the system, I am not at all surprised.
Well, I also know that the teacher who awarded that grade F for library to a grade 1 student has an obligation to give a valid explanation for it. And if teaching responsibility was their goal, then I should say it should begin from the top level - the ADMINISTRATION (Education Department), down to the school staff and then to the students...
