Our Bike trip to Ayutthaya

Last Sunday, Chris took me on another fun bike ride out to Ayutthaya, which is situated 80 km north of Bangkok. The journey was less tiring this time round then the one we took to Hua Hin as this place was
much closer in distance. It took us only an hour and a half to reach our destination. The ride was very pleasant as it was a Sunday and the roads were not congested at all. Plus, as we left early, the early morning wind was rather cool and refreshing!

When we arrived at Ayutthaya, we were awestruck by th
e ruins of the temples and looked in grim despair at the numerous headless Buddhas which were decapitated and set ablaze by the Burmese army when they invaded the sacred city in the 18th century. What total disregard and disrespect of the sanctity of the temples.

We walked a good couple of hours in Ayutthaya before we headed home. The journey back however was not as smooth as the journey to Ayutthaya but of course we managed fine. We arrived home exhausted but contented as we had a very fulfilling and productive day!
